CFA Refereeing School of Excellence
The RSOE is undergoing a transformation and rebranding to the Referees’ Academy. The new scheme which covers Reading, High Wycombe and MK Dons games, will see ALL Academy games covered by designated Academy referees. Urgently, the hunt is on for a co-ordinator for the MK Dons games. Interested? Then Corin can supply further information. And of course, new referees (15-24yrs) are always welcome to join the scheme. Congratulations to one of our own.....
After personal interviews with Corin Readett (RDO) and Kieran Bailey (Coach), Richard Dow has been selected from 8 referees at the Reading Referees Academy, to be one of the 3 referees that will be representing the Berks & Bucks in Lisbon this June. We wish all of them the best luck with this fantastic opportunity. |

Jewellery Must Be Removed
The CFA has again asked us to give our members a reminder that players are NOT allowed to wear jewellery of any kind. Referees should be firm on this point, irrespective of the excuses given by the wearer. Law 5 states “A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous to himself or another player (including any kind of jewellery”. |

More Expensive to Qualify !
There has been a review of the whole structure for training new candidates, and significant changes are now being implemented which will change the whole face of basic training. Locally this means the establishment of four training centres, tutors working in teams, and significant changes in the delivery of the courses. As forecast, the bad news is that the basic fee per person, is now £105 (+£10 for a pre-course DVD) irrespective of the age of the candidate. There is also a quality control move to ensure that the high standard of the tutors is maintained – by implementing an annual appraisal for these tutors. More details can be obtained from Corin or your local Tutor. |

CRB Re-checks - No Change
No change yet I’m afraid. The situation remains unaltered – in this county any action on renewing the check is on hold until the FA advises if/when it is required. The associated funds (£5 per referee per year included in the registration fee) are ring-fenced pending any FA decision.
