May 2002 - You are the ref
- An
attacker is in an offside position unnoticed by a defender who
attempts a back-pass to his goalkeeper.
The attacker intercepts the ball and shoots it into the
net. What is your
decision?
- In
a local competition the rules state that seven substitutes may be
named and five used.
Is there a problem?
- An
offence takes place behind your back and is pointed out to you by
one of your official Assistant Referees. Although you saw and
heard nothing, can you take any action?
- You award an indirect free kick when the goalkeeper picks up a
pass-back. An
attacker kicks it straight into goal so you award a goal kick.
The attacker protests that you hadn’t got your arm raised
to indicate indirect (he was right, you hadn’t) and so he had
scored a good goal. Do
you agree?
- You have sent a player off for attention to a bleeding head
wound. Without your
permission, he comes back on from behind his own goal just as an
opponent shoots. He
tries to stop the ball but only succeeds in helping into the net
with his hand. What
action do you take?
