September 2002 - You are the Ref

  1. You award the Reds a free kick just outside their own penalty area. The kicker decides to play the ball back to his keeper, but a Blues striker intercepts the ball and shoots on goal, but the shot goes outside the post. How do you re-start the game?

  2. In a local league game, without team sheets, you are about to send off a player and ask his name. “Long John Silver” he replies with a smile. What do you do?

  3. A player moves in front of an opponent going for the ball but not within playing distance and, in doing so, elbows him in the chest. What sanction do you impose?

  4. You spot that the goalkeeper who has come out beyond the 18-yard line reaches back and handles the ball inside the penalty area. Has he committed an offense? 

  5. You see one of Team A's substitute strike a fellow substitute on the bench. How do you deal with the situation?
