Open meeting – March 2013

It’s our monthly meeting this Thursday 21 March, 7.45pm as usual at the Earley Home Guard Social Club, Pitts Lane, Earley, Reading RG6 1BS

This month we are very pleased to welcome Mark Ives, Discipline Manager of The FA. Mark is a former Level 2 Referee with 9 years as a National List Assistant before retiring due to the conflict of interest with his job at The FA. Having been a referee for 27 years, he still referees every Saturday and Sunday, as well as being an Assessor and a Tutor. Before refereeing, Mark played at Isthmian League level.
Mark’s session is “Discipline and the way forward” – a subject he knows plenty about having been responsible for the introduction of the multi-Caution Report form as well as match-based discipline across all levels of the game. Mark’s session will be a mixture of updates, difficulties, problems with referees, some video incidents and plenty more to promote debate!
As usual, we will have our ‘Talking Point’ for anyone to raise any interesting/unusual incident to share with the members.

It’s that time of year when our membership subscriptions become due (the membership year is 1 April to 31 March). You will be pleased to know that our subscriptions remain the same at £26 for a full member. You should have received an email renewal from Jamie Barnett – if you don’t receive one in the next day or so then please email Jamie on jamie.g.barnett@gmail.com If possible please renew by direct payment into the Reading RA bank account (details are on the form) as this saves time and makes the administration much easier.
You can keep up to date with News on our website www.readingrefs.org.uk
I hope to see you on Thursday evening.
Stephen
